Follow The Leader

To attract fresh talent and make the automotive industry more appealing, naamsa will host a 2-day Follow The Leader Programme. This initiative aims to shape the career choices and future aspirations of 25 postgraduate students from historically disadvantaged backgrounds, who are in their final year of study. Selected candidates will pair with and shadow 20 industry CEOs for two days. We invite all our CEOs to join this transformative programme.

Based on the outcomes and recommendations of our Comprehensive Skills Gap Analysis, this programme is designed to be inclusive of all youth and address broader issues they face today. It goes beyond traditional career guidance to cover the entire automotive ecosystem, including:

The Future of Auto Retailing in South Africa

New vehicle sales in South Africa have been under a lot of pressure since the beginning of 2024. For the first half of this year [January to June], the cumulative new vehicle sales were tracking at 7,6% below the corresponding period in 2023.Since August last year when the declining slope in new vehicle sales commenced, 10 of the 11 months reflected year-on-year decreased sales while the trend also worsened up to June 2024. Similarly, vehicle imports declined in line with weak trading conditions.
