naamsa Study Tour | China 2026

The naamsa | The Automotive Business Council Study Tour in China officially commenced this weekend, with Shinny GOBIYEZA, Interim CEO of naamsa, leading the delegation on this important strategic mission.

We kicked off with a high-level engagement with Zhang GUIBIN, President of Chery International and President of AiMOGA Robotics, and Tony LIU, CEO of Chery South Africa setting a strong and collaborative tone for the journey ahead.

This multistakeholder delegation brings together key representatives from National Government (the dtic) represented by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), alongside provincial leadership from Gauteng and the Eastern Cape, as well as industry partners including NAACAM.

This collective representation reflects a unified commitment to advancing South Africa’s automotive sector through strategic collaboration, industrialisation, and innovation.

Our focus is clear:

to deepen our understanding of global best practices, unlock technology localisation, accelerate skills development, and drive sustainable industrial growth in line with the South African Automotive Masterplan 2035.

China’s leadership in automotive manufacturing and New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) presents a unique opportunity for learning and collaboration particularly in building competitive, future-ready value chains.

This study tour is not just about observation, it is about translating insight into impact for South Africa.

We look forward to a week of meaningful engagements across OEMs, innovation centres, and industry leaders.

Transforming Tomorrow Today.
