2. About The Role

Title

Manager: Finance and Human Capital

 

Reports To

Chief Operations Officer

 

Purpose of The Role

naamsa seeks to appoint a Manager: Finance and Human Capital who will ensure complete, accurate and timeous accounting process up to trial balance and to perform monthly internal reporting and analysis, support audit preparations and audit fieldwork enquiries. The incumbent will also provide Human Capital support to all naamsa employees and maintain fair and reasonable personnel policies and guidelines.

3. Key Responsibilities and Duties

On Financial Management, the Manager assumes the obligation to:

  • maintain internal control procedures over all naamsa business processes;
  • provide financial inputs into the preparation of business plans and company policies;
  • manage all naamsa tax-related issuesand communicate relevant procedures to employees;
  • ensure invoices, collection of revenues, incoming invoices and reconciliations are correctly accounted for and/or are correctly and timeously processed;
  • prepare monthly management accounts and finalise quarterly financial income statements;
  • review books of accounts, monthly management accounts and annual financial statements;
  • propose and implement cost saving strategies;
  • external audits and reviews: assist in the planning, coordinating, and monitoring of the statutory audit of all business units under his/her control;
  • work through the CEO for the appointment of external consultants for financial issues;
  • contribute and provide key financial input into project planning and decisions;
  • submit on time bi-annual returns to SARS through e@syfile and issue annual IRP5’s to staff;
  • timeously process all monthly returns towards the UIF, annual workman’s compensation, medical aid and pension fund allowances and PAYE;
  • prepare and present for approval the annual operational and capital expenditure budgets;
  • work with departmental heads and project managers to prepare project budgets;
  • support with the compilation and management of information to prepare for annual financial statements with external Auditors;
  • punctual and accurate financial record keeping aimed at achieving unqualified audits;
  • manage monthly credit cards reconciliation from all card holders; and
  • compile quarterly and annual accounts and ensure statutory requirements are fulfilled.

On Human Capital functions, the Manager will be expected to support naamsa with the implementation of Strategic HR processes, including but not limited to, strategic workforce planning, talent management, training and development, performance management, and employee relations.

  • ensure that HR processes are aligned to achieve all elements of the naamsa strategy;
  • prepare and distribute monthly staff payslips, process monthly payroll and annual bonusses;
  • support the successful delivery of naamsa HR policies to achieve a high performance culture;
  • ensure adherence to the naamsa Employee Performance Management process that enables all employees to be appraised in a fair and consistent manner.

4. Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting, or equivalent with solid academic results;
  • professional qualification such as CA [SA], CMA or MBA
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in a senior position within the areas of finance, accounting, auditing, tax, and internal controls;
  • preferred experience with strong financial practices;
  • expertise in IFRS accounting and internal controls and general tax knowledge;
  • generic familiarity with South Africa’s labour laws and HR practices;
  • exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and
  • strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret HR policies.

5. Skills and Attributes

  • proven track record and experience in the development of key events communication process;
  • understanding in managing stakeholder relations including coordination of travel arrangements;
  • experience in event finance, invoice management, processing and budget record-keeping;
  • tested ability in building and maintaining a client and/or supplier databases;
  • appreciation to creatively input on designs elements for events and creative execution;
  • ability to develop and continually update event guidelines documents and event procedures;
  • shows a strong understanding of the automotive business and understand factors, trends and issues which could influence naamsa events; and
  • a strong communicator with a clear and concise presentation style, who can convey, with consistency, naamsa’s event vision in a manner that is understandable.
