2. About The Role

Title

Manager: Events and Public Relations

 

Reports To

Chief Operations Officer

 

Purpose of The Role

naamsa seeks to appoint a Manager: Events and Public Relations who will be responsible for the implementation of all naamsa events, ensure that all company objectives, plans, and activities are coordinated to the highest standards of execution. You will also be expected to support naamsa in its all-public relations and communication initiatives. The incumbent will be expected to showcase projects, activities, and the automotive industry’s future plans in a coherent manner and improve the industry’s reputation and transformation credentials through robust communication efforts internally and externally.

3. Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • the Manager: Events and PR assumes the obligation to:
  • create and present an event development plan for all approved naamsa activities and events detailing a program to deal with all events and create different identity for each event that naamsa implements during the period of your engagement;
  • oversee and execute a wide range of events, from large-scale conferences, trade shows, roundtable discussions to corporate gala activations;
  • support end-to-end project management for all naamsa events, ensure seamless execution from conceptualisation to post-event evaluation;
  • develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, maintaining a keen eye for detail and exceptional organisational skills;
  • collaborate closely with naamsa members, partners, and clients to understand their objectives and translating them into creative event strategies that exceeds expectations;
  • support the Chief Operations Officer to coordinate and supervise cross-functional teams, including event planners, designers, vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure smooth event operations;
  • conduct thorough risk assessments and proactively identify and mitigate potential challenges or issues that may arise during the event planning and execution phases and report these to the Chief Operations Officer;
  • support, where required to negotiate contracts and secure favourable pricing with suppliers, venues, and other event-related service providers;
  • maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, provide regular updates on project progress, budget adherence, and overall event performance;
  • keep up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, bringing innovative ideas and fresh perspectives to the table to improve naamsa events;
  • ensure that event costs are within budget and proactively communicated to all relevant stakeholders throughout the project period;
  • pro-actively communicate with event owners regarding potential negative or positive impacts on their events strategy and implementation;
  • manage post event record-keeping;
  • do all things reasonably necessary to provide and maintain the highest levels professionalism under the supervision of the Chief Operations Officer.

4. Essential Requirements

  • a degree or equivalent with at least 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role;
  • track record of success in highly demanding organisations;
  • knowledge of events coordination and management beyond the auto sector;
  • ability to work independently, for long hours, under pressure and pays attention to detail; and
  • corporate communications and media relations experience essential

5. Skills and Attributes

  • proven track record and experience in the development of key events communication process;
  • understanding in managing stakeholder relations including coordination of travel arrangements;
  • experience in event finance, invoice management, processing and budget record-keeping;
  • tested ability in building and maintaining a client and/or supplier databases;
  • appreciation to creatively input on designs elements for events and creative execution;
  • ability to develop and continually update event guidelines documents and event procedures;
  • shows a strong understanding of the automotive business and understand factors, trends and issues which could influence naamsa events; and
  • a strong communicator with a clear and concise presentation style, who can convey, with consistency, naamsa’s event vision in a manner that is understandable.
