1. About naamsa

naamsa | The Automotive Business Council is the representative body for the South African automotive industry, championing growth, innovation, and policy alignment in the sector. We are seeking a skilled Manager: Government Policy to support OEMs with policy understanding, alignment, and advocacy for strategic policy interventions.

2. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance on automotive policy frameworks, regulatory compliance, and legislative changes.
  • Support OEMs in understanding and aligning with national policy expectations and strategic industry regulations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, industry associations, and key stakeholders.
  • Advocate for favourable policy interventions that support industry sustainability and competitiveness.
  • Lead policy research and analysis to provide data-driven insights for industry decision-making.
  • Represent naamsa in government engagements, working groups, and policy forums.
  • Monitor international automotive policy trends and assess their implications for the South African market.

3. Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Business Administration, or a related field (postgraduate qualification advantageous).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in policy advocacy, government relations, or regulatory compliance within the automotive or manufacturing sector.
  • In-depth understanding of South African government policy processes and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyse complex policy issues and develop strategic industry responses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
