Nelson Mandela Foundation

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) donated a Ford Ranger to the Nelson Mandela Foundation. For Mandela day this year, the manufacturing team at FMCSA has honoured Madiba with a very unique tribute as part of their 67 minutes, transforming a Ford Ranger into a one-of-a-kind piece of mobile art. The unique designs were done completely by hand by four talented artists that work at the Silverton Assembly Plant’s paint shop and it took the team 48 hours to produce the finished artwork.

Rally To Read

The Rally to Read initiative is to improve the literacy skills of learners at remote rural primary schools to acceptable levels. Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa (FMCSA) visited some of the most remote and disadvantaged primary schools in the Hazyview, Mpumalanga area with vehicles loaded with boxes of books, teaching aids, and other educational materials for the learners. FMCSA is currently in phase 3 of 3, this is the phase where Rally to Read works with both the Foundation and intermediate Phase where consolidation of skills take place. Resources that the learners are equipped with are more independent reading libraries that allow learners to read for pleasure, to use reference material such as the non-fiction books and to extend their reading practice in the classroom.
