 Thuthukani Special School

One of our projects is assisting the Thuthukani Special School which is a school for learners with severe to profound intellectual disability aged 6 to 19 years.

Here is an extract from their newsletter that was sent out recently:

“Thuthukani News:
As we find ourselves in the “new normal”, we pray that this newsletter finds you and your loved ones safe, healthy and happy.

Covid-19 has forced all of us to take a closer look at the way we work, live and play, and the same happened at Thuthukani Special School.

Even during lockdown, the school management team and school governing body were working behind the scenes to ensure that none of our very special families are left behind.

We are in the process of developing a Play-to-learn area with the support of Bell Equipment Company SA (Pty) Ltd, and we are able to do other much needed maintenance projects thanks to Bell Equipment Sales South Africa Ltd.”

The cost of this project to Bell for 2020 was R250,000.00.

Amangwe

Bell has partnered with Amangwe for some time now and this has proven invaluable for them during these difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic as our current project with them helps fund their Organic Food Gardening initiative which is essential in ensuring health and well-being in the rural communities.
Here is an extract from the July to Sept 2020 report showing how this is benefitting the rural community:

Khula High School

We are assisting Khula High School in realising their dream of having their own School hall.
During December 2018 a project was launched to construct a School hall inside the current school perimeter. The steel structure and roof were financed by the school, but additional funds were required for the foundation, floor and brickwork. An amount of R100 000,00 was donated in 2019 and a construction contractor was appointed. Construction work started February 2019. The foundation, floor and part of the walls were completed during 2019 and work was stopped during 2019 due to the funds running out. Bell contributed R200,000.00 for 2020 to assist with the continuation of the project and additional funds have been allocated that will be paid to Khula High for the continuation of the project into 2021.

The School thanked Bell Equipment for the previous donations and a certificate of appreciation was received.

The total spend for 2020 was R200,000.00.
